“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” ~ Proverbs 3:5,6 NLT
We hear that our nation is on a wartime footing, and the media is filled with military language as our world learns to fight this virus sent from the pit of hell. This is not a new battle. Those who read the Bible can recognize this all too familiar war. For years our ministry has taught that the battle is for the control of our minds. That continues to be true. However, recently while in prayer I sensed the Lord saying that this battle is not only for our minds, but for our hearts. You see when a crisis arrives fear fills our hearts, and we depend only on our minds to lead us. God wants us to follow him “with all our hearts”, hearts filled with the Holy Spirit. Our minds would cause us to rely on our own resources and wisdom, but in order to share in Christ’s victory in this war we must depend only on him. Jesus has the strategy to lead us to victory and keep us safe. The wisdom of the world is foolishness to God. (1 Cor. 3:19) His ways are not our ways. (Isa.55:8) In this war we cannot think our way to victory, instead we must trust our way. You see, our minds would have us dive into the nearest cave to hide. On the other hand, our hearts will see Jesus heading up the mountain path, leading us to a higher place above the clouds where the sun is shining. There our wounds will be healed and our spirits restored. There the darkness hides from us because, in Christ, overwhelming victory is ours. (Rom.8:37) Now is not the time to hide or give up, but to press on. Now, the call is to persevere and seek the Lord, our Light, with all our hearts in every decision and action. Let’s commit to trust in our Lord Jesus, and boldly climb the mountain as he leads the way, and finish his work, and participate in his victory over the darkness. Pray with me: Father God, we stand together to declare Christ’s victory over every challenge that faces us today. We agree that the Covid19 virus is a defeated foe. We claim Ps.91:7 that though a thousand fall at our side and ten thousand are dying around us, these evils will not touch us. And claim Ps.91:10, that no evil will conquer us and no plague will come near our house. Jesus, we thank you for your protection and peace as you guide us to a higher place. In your powerful, holy name, we pray. Amen. Dear friend, be blessed as you choose to trust in the Lord with all your heart daily and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance in every part of your life. We bless you with deep peace and restoration as you and your loved ones follow Jesus to a higher place. Amen. Mary Sumner, March 27, 2020
