“But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed." Isaiah 53:5 NLT According to 1 John 3:8 Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil. We have heard that Jesus paid our sin debt on the Cross and destroyed Satan’s claim on our eternal lives. However, have you ever studied what other things Jesus made possible because of his punishment and death on the Cross? Jesus came to restore all that was lost or stolen from us by the powers of darkness. He came to heal and make us whole, restoring us to his original design for us, and not just in Heaven, but now here on earth. When we were crucified with him by faith, (Gal.2:20, 3:13, 5:24) not only our sin was nailed to the Cross and lost its power over us, but a doorway was opened through Jesus to physical, emotional and spiritual healing as well. Jesus came to take our brokenness, wounds and bondage and exchange them for healing, wholeness and freedom. One of the gifts of this trying time, is being able to sit and listen to God more than ever before. Our heavenly Father is calling us to himself to receive all the good gifts he has set aside for us. As the perfect Father, he only has good and perfect gifts. (James 1:16) And the most precious of those gifts are love, peace and joy that are ours in Christ. Those are available only by inviting and allowing the Holy Spirit to do his deep work in us. Let’s not waste any of these sometime painful moments. Let’s surrender them to Jesus and expect him to do the deep work to remove all that blocks us from receiving the beautiful gifts that rightfully belong to us. The often hard work of cooperating with God in our inner freedom and healing is worth it. When all this chaos and fear subsides, let’s celebrate together in complete freedom, and joyfully proclaim the goodness of our God as we soak in his love and peace! Dear friend, be blessed as all trauma, fear and any other barriers are washed away in the Father’s truth and love. Let Jesus take all that blocks you from the freedom, peace and joy that you were designed to enjoy. Amen. Mary Sumner ~ May 6, 2020
